Under Armour has opened the doors to its newest UK store on 242-248 Oxford Street.

The world’s fourth-largest sportswear brand has embarked on a store opening spree in the UK, as looks to expand its bricks-and-mortar footprint across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

UA Oxford Street houses the retailer’s latest performance products across co-gender training and running collections as well as bespoke art specific to the city of London.

Sephora has returned to the UK after a 17 year absence, opening its new flagship store in Westfield London, White City today to seven-hour long queues.

The beauty retailer has unveiled its 6,000 sq ft store housing a range of products from makeup to fragrance, skincare, haircare, and wellness.

Last month it was revealed that House of Fraser had turned its Corporation Street location in the heart of Birmingham into an outlet store.

Owner Frasers Group has shut almost half of the 59 House of Fraser stores it acquired in 2018, with only 33 shops remaining in the UK.

The changes to the Birmingham store represents another blow for the city’s retail scene, which said goodbye to John Lewis after it closed its Grand Central flagship in 2022 after just three years.

Oxford Street has long been hailed as one of the UK’s and Europe’s top shopping destinations, however in recent years London’s retail hotspot has been looking worse for wear.

The iconic Topshop flagship has closed down, both House of Fraser and Debenhams department stores remain empty and endless American candy stores and luggage shops have popped up.

In 2020 more than 17,500 UK chain store outlets disappeared as the pandemic spurred the worst decline in stores on record, according to research from the Local Data Company and PwC.

All retail destinations were impacted, including the UK’s most famous shopping Mecca Oxford Street, which bid farewell to iconic stores such as Topshop and Gap.

The success of Marks & Spencer‘s Goodmove activewear brand has prompted the retailer to open a pop-up space dedicated to the range in London’s Covent Garden.

The pop-up, located on Slingsby Place, will be open until 23 April and will showcase Goodmove’s spring/summer 2022 collection across womenswear, menswear and childrenswear.
